Privacy

Cardholders' privacy is central for OV-chipkaart and Translink. Your details are in safe hands. No personal details are stored on the chip inside your OV-chipkaart, with the exception of your date of birth on a personal OV-chipkaart. We only link personal details to card details in order to provide service to passengers. We therefore meet the requirements of the Dutch Data Protection Act.

Data Protection Act

The Dutch Data Protection Authority has confirmed in writing that it is aware of our implementation of an 18-month data storage period. After 18 months, transactions will no longer be displayed in the (online) transaction overview. OV-chipkaart Customer Services are also unable to answer questions relating to transactions more than 18 months old. We carry out regular audits to guarantee cardholders' privacy.
